A community ministry reaching out with a hand up not a hand out.“Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, visit the incarcerated, and ‘visit the least of these.”   Matthew 25:34-40

Mission Statement

Second Chance Ministries mission is to walk along side men and women released from incarceration into Campbell County. Our mission is to provide re-entry assistance, during the first 4 months after release, to our clients and to help rebuild their lives through a transformation of hearts and minds through Jesus Christ, as demonstrated by our actions and kindness. While Second Chance Ministries is a faith based ministry, we do not refuse services to anyone meeting our criteria.

The Need

At the end of 2019, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics approximately 1,400,000 American adults were in jail or prison, plus an extra 58,000 were under jail supervision. Furthermore, 221,000 full-time workers were needed to supervise the offenders. Offenders are returning to their neighborhood at a rate of 1685 a day. In 2019, almost 615,000 prisoners were released, of which 2/3 will be re-arrested, Many prisoners are released without any housing, employment, mental or medical health services, and without any support. It is Second Chance Ministries’ goal to fill this void and meet the needs of those prisoners released into Campbell County.
